The real unknown is how that player will respond to NFL practices/coaching/lifestyle. In other words, scouts have a pretty good idea at estimating how good a player is 'right now'. In the real world you can be sure that any player taken in the 6th round would come into camp as a lower rated player (that's why he was taken so late). Of course that's not how it works in the real world.

If I draft a tackle in the 6th round, he will either come into his rookie season as:ġ) 50-60 OVR (in which case I can be confident he is a career backup and nothing more.)Ģ) 70-80 OVR (Congrats you found a 'sleeper' and realized it immediately upon signing him to a deal) You need to have guys (from the users perspective) randomly improve.
